There’s something about making an “About” page by myself that seems really self-centered, but at least it’s better than, oh, some no-name idiot fresh off the street making a Facebook fan page of himself/herself. Seriously, I don’t get people like that.
I was born in Saskatoon, SK, and after eleven years there moved down with my parents to Moose Jaw. I quickly got known to be the “computer guy” by everyone, after simply having dealt with computers for so long and learning to do everything with them, then using that practice in real life. It worked out rather well for me, as the experience I got paid off later for me in life – I got my CCNA 1 & 2 while in high school, and a couple of years later ended up with a job in IT/Engineering for a couple of local radio stations. There, I get to deal with things I love, such as basic IT, wiring, and all that kind of fun stuff, while getting frustrated by the things I don’t know much about like transmitters and remote broadcasting units.
I’m certainly more of a hardware guy than a software guy. I’ve attempted a few time to dabble into programming – BASIC when I was really young (And by the time it was already outdated), and tried to do Python a little bit too in High School, both of which just bored the living crap out of me. About the most adventurous I’ve ever been with anything like that was doing a Stage3 install of Gentoo as my first try at Linux. Five installs later, I did have a working OS, but there was so much tweaking to do it wasn’t funny. Kids, try Ubuntu first!
I am an afficionado of online gaming, and act as a server admin for an online community (Possibly the best one out there in terms of people and atmosphere!), as well as have recent adventured into the art of creating maps, something that’s about 20% programming and 80% creativity. I’ve made various “fun maps” for that community already, and am currently working on a relatively professional one as we speak.
